Born in Hong Kong and raised in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, Sui performs an introspective comedy style that attempts to make sense of the nonsensical world around him. His self-directed laughs often feature ruminations about his past experiences and present uncertainties.
Sui relies on stand-up comedy to counterbalance his rather serious career as an attorney. His attorney friends are constantly shocked to learn he grew up as the youngest, and not the oldest, in a family with five children. Steve Gorlin was born in New Orleans, and studied Creative Writing at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, where after graduation, immediately moved to Los Angeles with the goal of working in show business. He started out in the mailroom of a major talent agency, worked as a taxi driver (while putting himself through acting school), and later found work as a production assistant, a movie extra, and an assistant TV editor. Doing anything to survive in Hollywood may make a person rich and famous, but in Steve's case has only left him with a sense of humor. Inspired by the reruns of many classic sitcoms, and the multitude of late night talk show stand-up comic appearances, today, Steve is a late-blooming stand-up comic himself.
